El Dorado Winery Association's 17th Annual Passport Weekends 2008
The two weekends are March 29 & 30 and April 5 & 6, 2007. Call or visit the website to get an application to purchase your passport to this great event. Applications can only be postmarked on or after January 19, 2007. Twenty wineries located in El Dorado County. $65.00 per person Tickets are limited, and we suggest that you get your “application” in early. Gold Discovery Day
This marks the anniversary of James Marshall's momentous discovery of gold in the tailrace of Sutter's Mill. This event is commemorated every year with living history, interactive period trade demonstrations, music and more. January 26, 2008, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park, 8 miles north on highway 49 from Placerville in Coloma. Free to the public. A parking fee may apply. El Dorado Hills Art & Wine Affaire

Placerville Founder’s Day & 58th Annual Wagon Train
Help celebrate the city of Placerville’s Founder’s Day from over 150 years ago, just a few miles from where gold was first discovered in Coloma, California. Historic Main Street in Placerville closes to host living history exhibits, fire engine displays, hands-on demonstrations, gold-panning period games, contests and music, stagecoach rides, a working saloon, antique farm equipment, cowboy poetry and more. Street Faire from 2pm to 6pm. then, a Street Dance will close out the day from 7pm to 10pm. Historic Main Street, Placerville. Free to the public. Coloma Blues Live!
All-Day Blues Festival featuring different musicians in June of 2008. Placerville Bell Tower Brewfest 2008
This popular Placerville event will be hosted again by downtown merchants and will include a street closure for added enjoyment and safety for all patrons. Entertainment will be provided by a variety of live bands. Watching the bands and enjoying the atmosphere on a warm summer night on Main Street will be free, but if you are interested in sampling over 35 different micro-brews, tickets will need to be purchased for patrons over 21 years of age. 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Historic Main Street, Placerville. Tickets are limited and expected to sellout prior to the event date so plan on getting them early. Tickets will go on sale in mid-May so check the web site for date and more details. Labor Day Weekend ... Apple HillŪ season begins!
Those who have left the highway and driven through the orchards, vineyards and forests above Placerville know what Apple Hill is all about... Take the drive... the kids will love it! There is usually a free Apple Hill Shuttle from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every weekend during October. The shuttle will be picking up visitors every 15-30 minutes all day long. The pick up site is Schnell School in Placerville. Located in Camino, CA, Apple Hill was once a fledgling association comprised of 16 original ranches. Today it boasts more than 50 ranches including Christmas tree growers, wineries, and vineyards. Free to the public.
